Latisse Eyelash
Dr Garsing Wong is officially THE FIRST DOCTOR in Australia/New Zealand region to have prescribed the only licenced medicine in the USA, for patients to grow natural longer, thicker and darker eyelashes with Latisse®, bimatoprost ophthalmic solution, and Sapphire Appearance Medicine Clinic is proud to announce that the first FDA approved medicine Latisse®, clinically proven to be safe and effective prescription medication, for growing natural longer thicker and darker eye lashes, is available for you to use. Please note that in New Zealand Latisse® is now licenced for this use, and you must have a medical consultation(consultation fee applies) to ensure that the medication is appropriate for you.
Once you have the desired length of eyelashes, you will be able to decrease the frequency of application to keep the lashes at a steady length.
Dr Garsing Wong presented to Cosmetic Physicians at the Annual Scientific New Zealand College of Appearance Medicine meeting in September 2012, teaching physicians on his experience and the use of Latisse®.

How do you use Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution
Like every routine, applying Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03% is all about consistency and precision. Once you follow the basic guidelines, the results will come gradually over time. To see the full effect of your eyelash transformation, Dr Garsing Wong will take "before" pictures at the initial consultation, and keep taking pictures at every visit to chart your progress. This will coincide with when you need to renew your prescription for bimatoprost ophthalmic solution.
There is a potential for hair growth to occur in areas where Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution comes in repeated contact with skin surfaces that have existing hair follicles. Only use the sterile applicators that come with Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution. If discontinued, lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.

Please note that the standard consultation charge applies. At the consultation, Dr Wong will go through your medical history, expectation, and examine your eyesight, as well as inspect your fundi(look inside your eye with an ophthalmoscope, a safe and painless procedure that does not need any eyedrops). It is essential that a thorough medical consultation is conducted, and it is an opportunity to find out if you are at risk of developing glaucoma, the biggest preventable cause of blindness in New Zealand!
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects after using Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness, which were reported in approximately 4% of patients. These may occur immediately after use, but should usually last only for a short period of time. Eye itching and eye redness are not allergic reactions, and do not mean that your eyes are being harmed.
Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution may cause other less common side effects, which typically occur on the skin close to where Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution is applied, or in the eyes. These include eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. Skin darkening (or hyperpigmentation) is another less common side effect. This condition causes areas of skin to become darker than the surrounding skin color, but has been reported to be reversible after discontinuation of the product.
You should always only use the FDA-approved sterile applicators to apply Latisse® bimatoprost ophthalmic solution directly to the base of your upper eyelashes. The applicators have been specially designed and manufactured to meet FDA standards, and help patients properly apply the product.
Prostaglandin associated periorbitopathy has been reported with using Latisse, where the medication causes localised fat atrophy. This may result to a change in the appearance of your eyelid.
During the Hayfever season there is an increase in irritated eyes which may or may not be related to the use of Latisse.
Could Latisse® cause the colour of my eyes to change?
Increased brown iris pigmentation has occurred when similar medications were instilled directly into the eye to treat elevated intraocular pressure/glaucoma. Although iris pigmentation was not reported in clinical studies with Latisse®, all patients need to be aware of the potential for increased brown iris pigmentation which is likely to be permanent. To date, Dr Wong has not observed this to happen in any of his patients.
