Dermal Filler - Hyaluronic Fillers

Dr Garsing Wong and Wen-Pei (Margaret) Chen were first introduced to the newer generation of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers whilst attending an inspiring talk by Docteur Maryna Taieb, a Parisian dermatologist, at the inaugural Asian IMCAS Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand, July 2007. When Dr Garsing Wong gave his talk on Non-Surgical Facial Shaping with Botox® and Phosphatidylcholine (Lipolysis) at the Paris MASTERS Conference, September 2007, Margaret and Dr Garsing Wong arranged to spend time with Docteur Taieb in her Paris Clinic.  Dr Taieb showed her blunt cannula technique for high volume replacement using dermal fillers into the face using the smoother newer products. With experience, you can place the products virtually at any level of the skin to restore volume. Docteur Taieb's blunt cannula technique has been further refined by Dr Garsing Wong and Wen-Pei Margaret Chen, as the technique reduces the likelihood of unsightly bruises by gently pushing the tissues aside as you place the product. The biggest advantage of using cannulae is that it is much safer than using needles to place dermal fillers in the skin, as you greatly reduce the risk of injecting the filler intravenously.  This was recently highlighted at the Plastic Surgery Congress 2013 in Melbourne, Australia.

We prefer using products from Teoxane who make the Teosyal range of hyaluronic fillers.

Most importantly, the products are SAFE. They were originally developed with medical use in mind.  Hyalurone (hyaluronic acid) is found naturally in our skin, eyes and joints throughout our body. It is naturally broken down in our body to water. The speed at which it is broken down, relates directly to the longevity of the product.  In our skin, not all of the hyaluronic acid is broken down to water, some of it stimulates collagenesis, that is, it can stimulate the production of collagen in your skin, thereby further enhancing the longivity of the product.

Dr Garsing Wong and Wen-Pei Margaret Chen had the opportunity to meet Dr Ahmet Tezel, Director of Research and Development Allergan Medical when he was visitng Brisbane, in March 2008.

Allergan Inc. has been instrumental in allowing Dr Wong and Wen-Pei Margaret Chen to have extensive first hand experience with their products prior to the official launch of the products in New Zealand.

Before and immediately After photos showing how sunken eyes which can make you look tired, are removed with hyaluronic filler giving a naturally looking result without any bruising. Using the technique that Drs Garsing Wong and Wen-Pei Margaret Chen have developed together, difficult infra orbital volume loss can now be safely and reliably be fixed.

Hyaluronic fillers are particularly well suited for static wrinkles and fine lines. The soft product flows very freely, allowing it to be placed both superficially and deeply to achieve very natural looking results.

The products can be used wherever volume is needed. Below shows the combination of using Botox® with hyaluronic filler in the lower facial shaping to give the appearance that the face is more elongated and slimmer. The patient's weight has not changed between the first photo and the followup photo at three months.

With the addition of local anaesthetic to the fillers means that patients no longer require any nerve blocks for the procedures however we still offer our patients topical anaesthetic free of charge to make the experience even more comfortable.

There is a small chance of bruising which can be further reduced by using a cannula when the area allows this. All patients are able to return to work immediately. It is safe to apply clean makeup to the region.
