Sapphire Clinic are pioneers of facial shaping / facial slimming with Botox®,we use our published unique technique for benign masseteric hypertrophy reduction. Facial shaping also known as nonsurgical facial slimming, to reduce benign masseteric hypertrophy with Botox® injections either on their own or combined with lipolysis or fat dissolving injections was first introduced to New Zealand by Dr Garsing Wong together with Wen-Pei (Margaret) Chen.  Their technique has been published in the respected peer reviewed medical journal in the June 2011 issue of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Vol 10, pages 93-96.

From the photo, you can see how the lower contour of the face is better highlighted, making the lower jowl or jawline crispier and better defined. The weight of the patient is the same at the time of the before and after photos. Note how the aesthetic quality of the face is enhanced when a more feminine triangular and heart shape is produced in the lower face.

Botox® at Auckland Cosmetic Medicine Clinic Ltd - Sapphire Appearance Medicine Clinic is also used off-label in the jaw muscle to treat bruxism (teeth grinding which can cause TMJ or temporomandibular pain, headaches or even cracked teeth) as well as aesthetically enhancing your face. Some patients prefer not to have a squarish face so with Botox, a natural purified protein, that is painlessly administered directly into the masseter or jaw muscle can safely give a more gentle V shape to your face.

Below is a typical before and after photo showing the potential effect of just injecting Botox® to the masseter muscle for non surgical facial contouring or treating benign masseteric hypertrophy. The effect takes at least two months before it is apparent and can last more than a year in most patients using the high dose approach. If using the lower dose approach that is to administer smaller quantities of Botox, then the treatment needs to be repeated every few months thereby keeping the cost of each treatment less per time.

Within two months, you can already see the effect which can last from 4 months to 2 years depending on the dose of Botox® used. The most common comment the patients tell us is that everyone thinks they have lost weight as their face has a more aesthetic elongated shape.

Although a single high dose of Botox® to the masseter can achieve a longer result lasting result, it is better to maintain the desired shape with a smaller dose of Botox® after 9 months.

BOTOX® at Auckland Cosmetic Medicine Clinic Ltd trading as Sapphire Appearance Medicine Clinic.

BOTOX®is a Prescription Medicine containing 100 units of botulinum toxin type A for injection(Please note, in America, the generic name for Botox is onabotulinumtoxinA which is exactly the same refer to the FDA Press Release dated August 3, 2009).

 It is used for the treatment of frown lines. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Talk to your specialist about the benefits/risks of this procedure in appearance medicine.

Cautions: People with defective neuro-muscular transmission disorders, infection at site of injection, glaucoma, pregnancy and lactation.
Possible side effects include headaches, pain, burning or redness at injection site, local muscle weakness including drooping eyelids, lack of feeling and nausea. If you have any side effects or concerns speak to your doctor.
